Verizon Makes IP Move E-Z

Source: www.voip-news.com

These days, a lot of us, myself included, are resistant to change.  We like things the way they are.  We don’t want to learn something new.  What if it doesn’t work?  What is the transition is bumpy?  Our insecurities keep us from taking the leap, and understandably so.  The folks at Verizon, with their new Managed IP PBX on Nortel Platform, are trying to change that for us, and simplify the transition to IP.  And as they tell it, it’s just a matter of adding a new server and updated software.

“Many of our customers want to modernize their voice and data communications infrastructure using IP and are considering managed services as a way to deal with the complexity inherent in that,” said Nancy Gofus, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Verizon Business, in a recent press release. “As IP transformation continues, this remains a sweet spot for us.”

With the Nortel-based offerings, users will have a wide range of new options, including the ability to see who’s online, prioritizing incoming messages and more.  The new package will be available in January 2008.
