Low-Cost International VoIP with Voxofon?

Source: www.voip-news.com

VOXOFON is spreading the word about their low-cost mobile VoIP service, which allows users to make VoIP calls from their internet-enabled smartphone at a fraction of the cost of calling directly through their mobile carrier.

“Making an international phone call from a cell phone can cost a small fortune, and the wireless carrier will make at least a 90% profit on that call,” says VOXOFON President Alexey Goloshubin.

The VOXOFON service is supposed to be easy to use and low in cost. It’s supported by BlackBerry and Android phones with a download.

According to the company:

Calling abroad with VoIP used to involve sitting in front of a computer with a set of headphones, but in the past few years, the service has evolved, as new companies competed with innovative services for the long-neglected market share of friends, family and business associates trying to keep in touch – and travelers trying to avoid roaming fees.

Some telephone companies offer mobile VoIP for smart phones, but they require special software be installed, a phone that supports WiFi, and calling in a WiFi zone.

What do you think of this service?

VOXOFON Available For Android Phones

Source: www.voip-news.com

Users of the new T-Mobile G1 phone now have a VoIP option. VOXOFON is available on the Android platform through Android Market. According to VOXOFON, users who tried the application in beta enjoyed how easy it was to use.

“At present, most people who own mobile phones still make international calls via landlines, calling cards or computer VoIP services,” said Alexey Goloshubin, president and CEO of VOXOFON. “With inexpensive and easy-to-use options such as VOXOFON’s Android application, we expect an increasing number of people to use their mobile phones for calls abroad. It’s much more convenient.”

So, how do you get it?

Current G1 phone owners can download the VOXOFON application on the device by clicking on the “Market” icon for a list of Android applications. In addition, VOXOFON’s website, http://www.voxofon.com/, has a special section with a short video showing how to use the service.

Meet VOXOFON

Source: www.voip-news.com

Always with the new!

VOXOFON is the latest in VoIP. The company is billing itself as low-cost and easy-to-use for international internet telephony. The service has a good deal of flexibility as well. Calls start at 1.3 cents per minute, and can be made from computers, landlines or cell phones.

“We think VOXOFON will appeal to a wide audience because our customers can use whichever services they are most familiar with,” said Alexey Goloshubin, president and CEO of VOXOFON. “Many people are still using calling cards and some don’t have computers and may prefer our virtual phone numbers. As our customers become more comfortable with the newer technology, they can move on to that without having to change their VOXOFON account in any way.”

Mobivox Garners Alec’s Attention

Source: andyabramson.blogs.com

Alec Saunders who run agency client iotum, has a very crisp post today about another client, Mobivox and their new features. The one I am personally most excited about is Send Message.

Speech to text is getting much better. With SpinVox, SimulScribe both charging hard in the space to go after carrier deck type business, while selling direct as well, there will be a lot of heat in this area in the coming months. CallWave has also entered the fray with Fuze, a new Unified Communications play.

What I like about both the Mobivox and Callwave plays vs. the one trick ponies of Simulscribe and SpinVox is the costs to the end user will be lower, and you’re using one interface not many. In the case of Mobivox it’s simply your voice, while CallWave’s Fuze is a very slick web interface.

We continue to see convergence occur, but instead of the it being networks or devices, we’re seeing services converge more rapidly than ever before. This is good for the end user, as pricing will only come down as service providers can bundle high value, low cost features, with higher margin services to take a larger cut of the wallet.

Will SpinVox Go Public

Source: andyabramson.blogs.com

SpinVox is making noise about an IPO. It’s a ballsy move for a company that’s really just starting out, has less than a million dollars in annual revenue, but a very experienced management team.

Envox Makes Changes at the Helm

Source: www.voip-news.com

A new year is nearly upon us and with it, comes changes.  Envox Worldwide recently announced some executive shifts that are set to take effect immediately.  Their Board of Directors has made Mark D. Flanagan Vice Chairman and Leo Casey President and CEO of the company.  Apparently this has been in the works behind the scenes for quite awhile.

“Mark felt that this was an important change for us to make and has been discussing it with me and the Board for some time now,” said Jorgen Bladh, Chairman of the Board, in a recent press release. “Over the past few years, he has built an exceptional management team, culminating with Leo Casey’s appointment as the Company’s chief financial officer. This change will enable Mark to focus his considerable energies and abilities on Envox’s corporate and product strategy as well as key strategic initiatives. At the same time, it will enable Leo to apply his impressive skills and experience to building a highly efficient and effective global organization. The Board is confident that, together, Mark and Leo will ensure that Envox becomes the overall market leader we know it can be.”

Since Flangan’s arrival at Envox nearly 5 years ago, he has meant many good things for the firm, including quadrupling the company’s revenues and expanding their brand worldwide.

“As Leo and I have worked closely together, it became clear that he had the background and experience that Envox needed to become a world-class organization,” said Flanagan. “Leo and I have a shared vision about Envox’s strategy and market opportunities, and I know that he is going to make an outstanding president and chief executive officer. I look forward to working closely with him and the entire senior management team to develop Envox into the leading global provider of IP-based voice solutions.”

“Since joining Envox I have been continually impressed with our incredibly talented employees, the outstanding products and services we have, and the tremendous relationship that we have built with our customers,” said Casey. “I’m excited about taking on this new role and I appreciate the confidence that Mark and the Board have in me to make an important contribution to the Company. Together with them and our employees I know that we can build Envox into the global market leader in IP-based voice solutions.”
