Verizon Business Wins VoIP Award

Score one for Verizon Business.

The division of Verizon has been awarded the 2008 North American Frost & Sullivan Award for Product Line Strategy. It won for its role in developing and delivering hosted IP telephony and voice-over-IP access services.

“Verizon Business combines best-of-breed hosted IP telephony and VoIP access solutions with the financial and operational stability of the Verizon brand, enabling it to become a premier provider of enterprise communications services,” said Imran Khan, research analyst, Frost & Sullivan. “While a number of providers offer hosted IP telephony solutions, few are able to offer a robust product line that meets the diverse needs of small-, medium- and large-enterprise customers alike.”

THe award also recognized Verizon’s designing of hybrid packages for customers.

“This award recognizes Verizon Business’ leadership in helping companies through the IP transformation,” said Nancy Gofus, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, Verizon Business. “Our comprehensive IP portfolio, including advanced collaboration capabilities enabled by unified communications, helps our customers do business better in ways they may never have imagined.”

Verizon Business IP Trunking Named 2007 Product of the Year

Verizon Business’ IP Trunking has been named a 2007 Product of the Year by TMC’s Communications Solutions. Trucks connect switching systems through communications lines. Verizon’s use SIP to interoperate between either IP or time division multiplex private branch exchange or key systems.

“Verizon Business continues to enhance and expand its VoIP portfolio to make it easier for customers to enjoy the benefits of IP-based communications,” said Nancy Gofus, Verizon Business senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “This award showcases our commitment to advancing technology for customers who are adopting VoIP and other IP-based services to more efficiently and cost-effectively manage communications across their enterprise.”

This is the eight annual awards Communications Solutions Product of the Year awards.

Denmark to Use Verizon Business for IP Solution

Verizon Business will be consolidating the global communications of the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs onto one IP network. The fully-managed Verizon Private IP solution will provide the Danish government with a secure and centralized communication infrastructure that connects employees around the globe. That is expected to be more cost-efficient for the government.

The system will link the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 95 countries (that’s about 115 outposts).

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs makes its living by gathering and exchanging knowledge from all parts of the world, with our communications network acting as one of the ministry’s nervous systems. Our IT department has been exploring ways of optimizing our use of IT and communications technologies to ensure we effectively support our activities around the globe. Verizon Business intro’s VoIP assessment service

Verizon to upgrade Army Communications

Verizon Business will provide its resources for the modernization and upgradation of telecommunications infrastructure on US Army posts, camps and stations worldwide in future.

The Federal Network Systems, a unit of Verizon Business is among the ten prime contractors selected by the US Army to take part in future bidding for task orders in its $4billion Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity(IDIQ) Infrastructure Modernization(IMOD) program.

The program would be in affect from June 2007 as the Digital Switched Systems Modernization Program expires by then.

Verizon, which has good track record of helping US Department of Defense in the will put its inputs to enhance network capabilities and improve bandwidth around the world.

As the US defense is marching towards EoIP (Everything over IP), Verizon Business will supply its advanced VoIP technology to guide the government in this direction.
