Raketus discounted VoIP rates promotion was supposed to expire before July. However, the company has extended it still the end of this month. It means the customers can enjoy 66 percent rate reduction for Raketus VoIP services. They can also enjoy free unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles in 42 countries. What could be the hidden agenda behind this continual?

In recent months, Raketu has launched a series of products and services. Off them, RakWeb is most famous. It supports Apples iPhone. The iPhone users can enter their phone number at Raketus RakWeb site and make VoIP calls. Interestingly, Jajah is also providing iPhone users low cost VoIP services than AT&T.

The recent announcement to continue reduction promotion is to popularize the RakWeb service among the customers so that it can give tough challenges to Jajah.

Skype-killer Raketu is now looking forward to embrace corporate VoIP following the empathetic response to its desktop VoIP application, Launchpad with more than 1.5 million download since its October 2006 lunch.

The New York-based start up is all set to launch a web version of its desktop application, RakWeb for the business enterprises removing their security concern on P2P VoIP technology.

With RakWeb, the business enterprises can enjoy a number of services including VoIP, IM, Global SMS and Video on demand and cheap VoIP calls from any computer using either a dial-up or broadband connection.

The Launchpad application has also these features. However, Raketu CEO, Greg Parker says the forthcoming desktop VoIP application is more secure and robust service for business users than Skype, which uses super nodes.

He says,

In a lot of cases we’re half the price of Skype, particularly for overseas calling and even in the US….because we make much less use of the whole server infrastructure and we don’t use a super-noding architecture, we have the lowest infrastructure cost among our peers.
