Time is not so far to see the full and final rollout of Microsofts much-talked VoIP server, Office Communication Server 2007 and its client Office Communicator 2007. The software giant has made these VoIP components available for the manufacturers this week and gearing for official release after two months.

Jeff Raikes, President at Microsofts Business Division has confirmed that the Office Communication Server 2007 and the Office Communicator client are now code complete.

He further said,

With this milestone we are one step closer to delivering products that establish Microsoft as a major force in unified communications and voice.

Over the years, we have perceived Microsofts Live Communications as Corporate Messaging and Presence, rather VoIP services. With the launch of Office Communication Server 2007, Microsoft will provide VoIP service in its every applications including Word, Excel etc.

The business enterprises can reduce their telephone bills by 50 percent by using the new server and client system, explains Microsoft.

Royal Dutch to introduce global VoIP rollout on Microsoft OCS platform

Oil giant Royal Dutch Shell has decided to introduce a global VoIP rollout with ten of thousands of IP phones that will operate on Microsofts Office Communication Server (OCS) 2007, Windows Vista, Office 2007 and Exchange Server 2007 platform.

As of now, Shell is using Nortels Communication Server 1000 IP PBX in its data centers that host nearly 1,000 IP phones worldwide.

The company plans to introduce Microsoft servers in three data centers located in USA, Malaysia and the Netherlands. It will handle all VoIP call control for more than 40,000 IP hard phones (from Nortel) and softphones, based on Microsoft Office Communicator.

Known as the successor of Live Communication Server, the OCS is a real-time communications product for instant messaging, audio and video conferencing, as well as IP PBX-like call control.

Microsoft will go for public beta of its Office Communications Server and Office Communicator client later this year.

Microsoft launches Response Point for SMB VoIP system

Microsoft has made a beta release of a new IP-based phone system, code-named as Response Point, which will work as an alternative to the PBX solutions and provide small and mid-sized business enterprises a number of VoIP functions including voice mail, auto attendant, voice recognition and voice-activated user interface.

The Response Point can also be dubbed as Microsoft IP PBX software, which will support the devices such as D-Link DVX-2000, Quanta Syspine and Uniden Evolo. The software giant is now discussing with these hardware companies.

Based on Micorsofts upcoming Office Communications Server 2007, the Response Point handsets will support SIP VoIP, Instant Messaging, Presence and Conference Server. It also supports Microsofts Office Communication soft clients.

The latest PBX software also enables customers to configure new phone lines or set up call distribution lists that direct incoming calls to certain lines.

Response Point-enabled phones will also be programmable to auto-dial other internal phone lines or numbers from a users Outlook contact list.

Microsoft plans to official release the new IP-Phone system by the end of this year.
