First - what is the VoIP News LinkedIn Experts Group? If you are a VoIP expert and a member of LinkedIn, you can head on over there and request membership in our group. But for those of you coming here because you are ALREADY members, here is a question for you all. Please respond in comments.

How are you planning to integrate mobile devices and applications into the voip services you use and which you are building for your employers or clients? Are you looking for straightforward integration or are you looking to add to the suite of applications the business can employ once you have mobility enabled with voip?

Mediacom Renews Ceon Contract

Source: www.voip-news.com

Mediacom has renewed its contract with Ceon for 3 more years, which extends the agreement to 2010. Ceon began providing service to Mediacom in 2005. Mediacom uses Ceon’s Intelligent Order Manager for its residential  VoIP and high-speed data services.

“As we continue to grow our bundled broadband and VoIP services, we are relying on Ceon to provide the backbone of our service fulfillment architecture,” says Peter Brown, Senior Director of IP Development, Mediacom. “Ceon’s service fulfillment solution enables us be more responsive to customers and allows us to scale our services more efficiently.”

Ceon IOM’s flexible, customizable software can handle advanced order handling and workflow capabilities for VoIP and other IP-based services.

“Mediacom’s contract renewal is a significant vote of confidence for Ceon,” says Peter Burke, CEO of Ceon. “It reinforces our position as a leading provider of operations support systems solutions in the MSO marketplace. We look forward to providing additional value-rich, high-performing solutions and further strengthening our partnership with Mediacom as it continues to rolls out advanced IP-based services to its subscriber base.”

iPhone 3G News Summaries…

Source: alanweinkrantz.typepad.com

I felt the best use of my time and this blog was to search for, and post what I thought were the best post-iPhone 3G news stories.
Picture_1_2

Here goes:

Saul Hansell’s BITS Blog summarizes interview with AT&T’s Ralph de la Vega.  The new plan goes up $10 and why current iPhone users may not get the $199 price point.

Om Maliks’s GIGAOm Blog begs the right question:  is 3G Ready for the iPhone Stress Test?  Om also interviews Ralph de la Vega here right after the official launch.

Michael Miller’s Forward Thinking Blog gives the best overview of not only the 3G iPhone, but information and insight on Mobile Me

Eric Zemin’s Over The Air - InformationWeek Blog has a skeptic’s view of why not to buy the 3G iPhone

And just for fun, the Intomobile Blog has FCC documents which it can now release showing Apple’s application for the device.

FMC News and Notes for Monday May 12th 2008

Counterpath’s FMC comes to Slovenia.

This is not really news, because I heard about this at MWC, but nonetheless shows that FMC is still alive and growing.

VoIP News Experts Group

Source: www.voip-news.com

VoIP News is forming an experts group via LinkedIn. First off, some basic details so you know what this means.

LinkedIn is a ’social media’ site that connects professionals and their networks of colleagues, peers and business relationships. It has proven to be very successful and many influential people within IP telephony and the VoIP space are members of LinkedIn. One of the ways these professionals can connect via LinkedIn is via professional groups. VoIP News is setting up one of these groups for VoIP experts to connect and help make business relationships.  In this case, because we want to be completely open and to facilitate community within VoIP, we are simply going to say that if you think you are a VoIP expert, then you are one.

Some people will invited directly via email form within the LinkedIn system. The other way to join is via a link to the group. We do not have that today, but we will in the next couple of days and we will post the link here for those who want to join.

Please note: LinkedIn takes professional relationships very seriously as do we here at VoIP News. If you aren’t a VoIP expert then please don’t try to join. LinkedIn relies on members only making connections when there is a real connection there to be made - in other words, don’t build and add to your network just for the sake of having a big network - in the long run you’ll hurt your reputation.

Finally, this is an experiment. It may not work. But if it does it should provide another way for VoIP professionals to connect with one another.

Sad News, Sorry News About VON

Source: andyabramson.blogs.com

I’m saddened by this report.

If anyone thinks this is good news they’re wrong. It’s not.

While I’ve made an attempt to reach Pulver Media representatives for comment so far at 1115 PM EDT, no response after more than two hours.

I know Jeff well enough that he has more on his mind than to talk to me in a moment like this, so I won’t bother him. But I will publicly offer him my support, as I hope the industry will if he needs it, just like I did for Lee Dryburgh and eComm.
