iUnbrick or give a jailbreak for your iBricked iPhone

Source: snapvoip.blogspot.com

If you were left with a iBrick after updating your iPhone, now there is a way to get away from the jail, a jailbreak. The unofficial iPhone Dev team has said that their latest tools will not work on ibricked phones but iPhoneSIMFree has been able to use the tools to iUnbrick iPhones.

The iPhoneSIMFree folks announced Thursday morning that as a result of the iPhone Dev Team’s work, they’re now able to not only unlock 1.1.1 iPhones but they are also able to unbrick (iUnbrick) those unlocked iPhones that fell silent after installing the update.

They were able to bring you a solution, (after some very difficult and lengthy hardware hackery), to retrieve the necessary info to create the world first 1.1.1 unlock solution. They have now tested SimFree v1.6 with phones that have the new Baseband version 04.01.13_G with full success. This now means that SimFree v1.6 release, is now capable of completely restoring/repairing software unlocked "bricked" iPhone. Those of you wishing to repair your phone, please read the following steps.

Steps for "un-bricking" your anySim or iUnock iPhones:

1. Follow the iPhone/iTouch dev team steps to bring your phone back to 1.0.2 system (your baseband firmware will still be the newer 04.01.13_G)

2. Register your true IMEI (found engraved on the back of your phone) with our servers through one of our trusted resellers.

3. Power down your phone and REMOVE your sim

4. Power up with the sim removed and Install SimFree.app 1.6 (simplest method is through apptapp installer, see post below)

5. Follow this tutorial to execute the Simfree. app.

Free iPhone unlocking solution

Source: snapvoip.blogspot.com

A team of hackers attempting to unlock Apple Inc.’s iPhone for use with GSM-based wireless carriers other than AT&T appear to have finally succeeded in their efforts, and last night began distributing their solution as a free download via several websites.
Dubbed "iUnlock," the SIM unlocking tool represents the fruits of a multi-month effort on the part of the unofficial "iPhone Dev Team" — a community of independent contributors who’ve banded together to discover and develop additional uses for the inaugural Apple handset.

Unlike commercial efforts from groups such as iPhoneSIMfree and UniquePhones, iUnlock was released Tuesday evening as a free download, and has since begun to spread rapidly across the web. Several iPhone owners and members of Apple online communities claim to have tested and verified the solution as genuine.

Where to get it? Gizmodo Mirror has it.
Info came from Apple insider.
