VoipRaider - The Family Enlarge Itself

Source: voip-tech.blogspot.com

I found them almost perchance, VoipStunt, VoipWise, InternetCalls…
VoipRaider’s features are nearly identical to the ones of VoipWise, different graphical interface as like the different official website but the network and the functionality are equal to the ones of its clone softwares.
Just try to download and install both VoipStunt and VoipRaider, sign-up with both ones, it’s not possible to use the same username for one and the other, I presume that the network and the sign-up servers are the same for all, after that from VoipStunt add a new contact specifying the username you choose for VoipRaider sign-up process, there you are in the list.

VoipWise

Source: voip-tech.blogspot.com

Born a "new" software for VoIP calls and free SMS sending very but very similar to the other ones I spoke about in an old little article.
Reading from the official site it seems that there’s the way to make free calls over landline phones in the enabled countries:

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Chile, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States (mobile phone included).

The sending of free SMS is limited, as calls over landline phones, it’s not understandable in what manner it is, but… better that nothing.
VoipWise is freely distributed and it is translated in many languages, after the short installation it is necessary to sign up with classic username and password, the registration process is quite immediate and easy to do, after that it will be possible begin to use VoipWise, between the features it’s present the Phone2Phone function, simply inserting your own telephone number and the one you wish to call, it will be estabilished a direct call between the two phones, without computer aid.

On Facebook, Many SMS Apps Find Little Use

Source: gigaom.com

Sarik Weber co-founder of CellityEarlier this morning I met with Sarik Weber, co-founder of Hamburg, Germany based mobile call back service, Cellity. He brought me up to speed on his company, but he also mentioned that they had launched a Facebook application that allows you to send free SMS messages to anyone worldwide.

I signed up for the app but also looked at the competitive landscape and found that there are around three dozen (free) SMS related apps, but they have little or no usage. Even the best ones get about 500 users a day, though most have fewer than 50 daily users. (Related story: 5 Ways to SMS for free.)

The state of these SMS apps, is no different from many Social Voice applications (Voice widgets). The only difference being that the VoIP widgets have high incidence of installs but comparatively low daily usage.

App Name Daily active users % of total
Babuki SMS 645 3%
Send SMS 2,099 0%
Shickclick 1,106 5%
SMS 500 2%
SMSfree 224 6%

These two examples make me question the viability of Facebook as a communications hub. Our columnist Daniel Berninger has eloquently made an argument for a social directory that uses Facebook and other social networks to break away from the current paradigm of numeric phone numbers.

He is part of a group that believes that social network could be used to authenticate our “communication” relationships. I don’t necessarily disagree with Daniel, but the usage metrics of SMS and Voice Apps makes me wonder if Facebookers really want to do anything more than throw Vampire Bites, Scrabble and pretend to have a lot of friends. VoipStunt 4

Source: voip-tech.blogspot.com

It’s available on the website www.voipstunt.com the download of version 4 of the famous VoIP software, VoipStunt.
I didn’t find any changelog to find out bugfixes and possible new features, but after I installed it I noticed a new form that allow calls from phone to phone, like the way JaJah do, simply typing the sender’s phone number and the consignee’s phone number, always free calls in the countries specified on the VoipStunt website, and a new form for sending SMS.
I tried to send a few SMS and indeed they are been delivered immediately, but the maximum SMS allowed was five SMS, better than nothing seeing that they’re free!

Free SMS To Any Mobile Phone via GizmoSMS

Source: snapvoip.blogspot.com

VoIP IP Telephony @ http://snapvoip.blogspot.com
In an email from Micheal, I learned to today that Gizmo Project/SIPphone has another sibling, GizmoSMS. Here it is straight from his email;
"Today SIPphone is launching GizmoSMS.com a web site that lets you send SMS messages to any mobile phone directly from your PC. It’s fast and easy and best of all it’s free. (The receiver may have to pay a fee depending on their plan.) It’s the quickest way to send a brief message to someone. Many kids use SMS as a primary messaging tool in place of email. I find it very useful if I know someone is traveling because they may or may not have access to email or instant messaging. Personally I prefer getting a SMS message over a call or voice mail for brief messages."

You can make it easy for people to send you a SMS message by providing them with a link such as: http://gizmosms.com/18005551212 which will navigate them to GizmoSMS.com and populate 18005551212 into the number field. We’ve also added links directly from sister site Gizmo Call which lets you call any phone right from your browser. (Also Gizmo Call now works with Linux! Yeah.) Whether you want to send a SMS message (GizmoSMS.com) or talk to someone on a phone (GizmoCall.com) it’s now just a couple clicks away all from your browser. I hope you’ll give it a try and let me know how it works for you and how it can be improved.

Follow the links for your Gizmos;
