Talari Networks has added the Mercury T200 appliance to its Adaptive Private Networking (APN) solution. APN solves reliability problems caused by heavy applications like VoIP

“Adaptive Private Networking’s unique ability to substantially lower IT operating costs without sacrificing reliability offers truly compelling ROI in today’s difficult business climate,” said industry analyst Dr. Jim Metzler of Ashton, Metzler & Associates. “With its APN solutions, Talari Networks is bringing Internet economics to business-quality WANs.”

Verizon Business Makes European Deployment of VoIP Easier

Source: www.voip-news.com

Verizon Business is paving the way for an easier transition to enterprise VoIP in Europe. The company says that the move will help European companies reduce their operating costs and make their network management simpler.

“Verizon Business is staying a step ahead of its competitors with its sharp focus on global enterprises voice and IP Telephony requirements, particularly in the area of SIP Trunking,” said Dustin Kehoe, principal analyst at Current Analysis. “Verizon Business has the largest IP Trunking deployment in Europe with availability across eight countries. The latest offer is multisite IP Trunking, which allows enterprises to use a centralized PBX that can support locations in multiple countries and allows them to eliminate premises gateways at remote locations.”

There is a new centralized model of Verizon IP Trunking, their premier business service. IP Trunking lets customers implement a central IP PBX hub in one location and extend their VoIP services to other sites across country lines. The centralized model allows the companies to have their VoIP service work in Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and the UK.

“Many European enterprises are looking to tackle the time-consuming and costly challenges of managing their voice services across Europe, and the centralized multisite, multicountry design of Verizon IP Trunking can help accomplish that,” said Rebecca Carr, vice president of global enterprise marketing, Verizon Business. “Benefits are maximized and network complexity is reduced — therefore freeing up valuable time for the enterprise to focus on its own business goals.”

Additionally,  Verizon Business has certified three additional IP PBX equipment platforms. Here’s the detes:

– Avaya Communication Manager 5.1, the company’s flagship IP Telephony
software platform.
– Avaya Communication Manager Branch, a centrally managed, session
initiation protocol (SIP)-based virtual workplace communications
solution that easily scales to meet the needs of large enterprises
with distributed sites.
– Cisco Unified Communications 520 System, an affordable, easy-to-manage
communications solution for smaller businesses, in addition to support
for Cisco Unified Communications Manager for medium to large
enterprises.

QueueMetrics Now Supports OrecX TR Voice Recording

Source: www.voip-news.com

OrecX LLC’s OrecX TR is now supported in QueueMetrics 1.5.1, the call center monitoring application from Loway that is used for large scale Asterick PBX operations. That can reduce operating costs of recording voice calls by moving them from the Asterisk server to a dedicated server.

“OrecX TR is a very popular solution used in thousands of call center networks around the world. Bringing support for OrecX into the QueueMetrics environment will lower costs, simplify call recording, and extend functionality for many QueueMetrics users,” said Lorenzo Emilitri, managing director of Loway.

According to the company:

QueueMetrics turns any Asterisk PBX into a full-featured contact center. Able to support up to 500 live agents, the suite allows operations managers, call team leaders and call agents to complete their daily tasks through a real-time computer interface. Operations managers can view activity reports, listen to recorded calls, measure agent activity and business targets, while team leaders can see current agent status and listen to live calls as they are handled. QueueMetrics also allows agents to see calls they’re handling, integrate with external Customer Relationship Management (CRM) applications and more.

By providing support for OrecX TR, Loway gives QueueMetrics users a way to record calls with minimal changes to the Asterisk dialplan. As the user’s audio storage medium, OrecX TR will cut the disk I/O and transcoding costs necessary for the main Asterisk server(s). It accomplishes necessary recording and storage tasks while retaining a high level of control, even in distributed or clustered Asterisk deployments.

Source: alanweinkrantz.typepad.com

Even with financial markets imploding, there is some good news out there.

I just learned that AT&T now has more than HD Channels in every market they are in when compared to the old school cable company.

With recent expansions to the U-verse TV HD lineup, customers can now enjoy ABC Family HD, Disney Channel HD, Disney XD HD, ESPNews HD and ESPNU HD as part of their existing HD service subscription, depending on their programming package. With the additions, U-verse TV offers 100 or more HD channels in every U-verse TV market.

AT&T U-verse TV has two HD subscription options.

HD service is included with the U450 programming package and available for $10 a month with any other U-verse TV programming package. U-verse HD customers can get even more HD-exclusive channels with the HD Premium package for an additional $5 a month. All U-verse TV packages include HD-ready equipment, and most packages include an HD-ready Total Home DVR, which gives you the ability to record your HD programs from a single DVR and watch them on any connected TV.

VoIP Carriers Must Allow Emergency Calls in EU

Source: www.voip-news.com

VoIP carriers abroad must now allow emergency calls via their VoIP to landline systems and also provide location information where feasible, thanks to a ruling by regulator Ofcom. Emergency is 999 in the UK and 112 most elsewhere there.

The problem was highlighted after a Calgary, Canada, child died after a VoIP emergency call was placed and gave the wrong location of the emergency. Critics of the regulation say that there are some services that don’t have a reasonable expectation of needing to make emergency calls from the phone because they aren’t intended as landline replacements.

Net Neutrality Takes a Hit

Source: www.voip-news.com

So, the FCC finally issued their official ruling on net neutrality. Have you heard the rundown yet? The gist is that the FCC doesn’t think that any new laws are necessary, which means that laws are highly subjective. Moreover, that means that whoever is influencing policy can influence how laws are interpreted. Course that doesn’t mean good things . . .

Want to know more about the ruling? VoIP News has you covered. Read this article for more information.
