Google is working on an extension strategy for the Chrome browser that would allow plug-ins like Mozilla Firefox has. That could mean support for services like Twitter and Skype.

According to PC Magazine:

The team wants extensions to be able to be silently updated, which would be welcome compared with Firefox’s frequent and intrusive extension update prompts. One has to wonder though, if a Chrome browser loaded with extensions would be able to maintain its speed advantage over the competition. No dates for milestones of the project are specified, so it’s clearly at the early birthing stage.
