Source: snapvoip.blogspot.com

While big bad wolves of mobile business’ like AT&T and Verizon watched from distance, Other US Cell Phone companies are buzzing around Google like those bees in Jerry Seinfeld’s movie, Bee Movie. Current supporters of OHA include, include Motorola, Qualcomm, Sprint Nextel and Deutsche Telekom, parent of wireless operator T-Mobile, among many others.
"We’ve been one of the most vocal (companies) in developing on open platforms, and this is an accelerator to what we’re doing," said Motorola CEO Ed Zander on a call with reporters Monday. Bu I only thing I saw so far open about Motorola are those clam shell phones that you have to open to dial! But it is nice to see these people singing the "Open Source" song!
Qualcomm CEO Paul Jacobs not to be out done selected current green buzzword to explain it’s business plans, "The wireless ecosystem is constantly changing, and we’re enabling a new ecosystems of partners like Google and others to go mobile."

T-Mobile parent enters into risky VoIP business

Germany-based Deutsche Telekom, the parent of t-mobile-parent-enters-into-risky-voip-business_28T-Mobile has invested in Jajah, an innovative VoIP start-up from Austria. The investment marks entry of mobile phone service providers in the risky VoIP business.

Forbes has rightly pointed out in its story that T-Mobile parents bets on VoIP. Until now, T-Mobile was the forefront in criticizing VoIP technology due to the threat perception that it would bring down their current revenue streams.

Surprisingly, Deutsche Telekom took part in the recent $20 million funding round with Intel to get into VoIP through Jajah.

Jajah is a growing company. In a short span, it has registered more than two million customers. It has now emerged one of the strong competitors of existing players, like Vonage, Verizon and SunRocket. The investment by Deutsche Telekom will no doubt boost Jajah in its growth.

What about Deutsche Telekom? It is still fresh in our memories about eBays huge investment in Skype and struggling there after despite the fact Skype is much, much bigger than Jajah in terms of subscribers.
