Source: voipcentral.org

Apple iphone

VoIP on iPhone- it is something both iPhone and VoIP customers demanding, ever since Apple launched the high profile device in USA. Thanks to Truphone, the VoIP world will finally embrace Apple iPhone.

Truphone has just launched an alpha version of its software that would enable SIP-compatible VoIP to work seamlessly on the iPhone.

The MVoIP service provider is planning for a private beta in the next four weeks.

The TruPhone VoIP solution needs Terminal commands through the iPhone to use the iPhones SIP-stack to make phone calls through WiFi rather than the SIM card. The company will make the application simple and user-friendly when it will be released officially.

Truphone claims that its VoIP application will ensure Apple iPhone users to enjoy calls at considerably lower rates than those charged by the mobile operators.

Raketus discounted VoIP rates promotion was supposed to expire before July. However, the company has extended it still the end of this month. It means the customers can enjoy 66 percent rate reduction for Raketus VoIP services. They can also enjoy free unlimited calls to landlines and mobiles in 42 countries. What could be the hidden agenda behind this continual?

In recent months, Raketu has launched a series of products and services. Off them, RakWeb is most famous. It supports Apples iPhone. The iPhone users can enter their phone number at Raketus RakWeb site and make VoIP calls. Interestingly, Jajah is also providing iPhone users low cost VoIP services than AT&T.

The recent announcement to continue reduction promotion is to popularize the RakWeb service among the customers so that it can give tough challenges to Jajah.

lg-prada-phone-for-jajah-voip_28While, we are eagerly waiting to see Jajah-Apple iPhone combo in the next few months, here is another success story of Jajah. It is Jajahs association with LG.

The news over the last few days reveals that LG will be supporting Jajah VoIP services on its new Prada phone enabling users to make low cost national and international calls using Jajahs mobile web application.

Austria-based Jajah explains it is typically 91% cheaper than on a standard mobile contract with Vodafone, 67% with Orange, 87% with T-Mobile and 88% with O2.

Cisco files suit against Apple over iPhone trademark

Source: voipcentral.org

cisco-systems-vs-apple_28

Cisco Systems has filed a lawsuit against Apple in Federal court claming Cisco owns the iPhone trademark. Apple displayed the much talked Apple iPhone at the MacWorld trade show in San Francisco and announced its official launch in June this year. However, the lawsuit says Apple has no right to use the neame iPhone.

Cisco says it has held the trademark on the name iPhone since 2000 when it acquired InfoGear Technology Co. InfoGear has originally registered the name.

Linksys, Ciscos division applied the trademark to develop an IP phone called iPhone just three week ago for VoIP calls.

However, an Apple spokesperson Natalie Kerris termed the suit silly saying a number of companies are using the name iPhone for VoIP products.

Coming soon: JAJAH VoIP software for Apple iPhone

Source: voipcentral.org

jajah-voip-software_28 My friend Naveen made an excellent coverage on Apples iPhone. In his 1230 words article, he tried to explore every aspects of this much-hyped Apple device. So, why am I talking these things in the VoIP blog? In my opinion, Apple iPhone will be taking VoIP into the next phase of development.

Soon after, Apple announced his coveted iPhone, JAJAH has declared that it would develop its software to support the iPhone in June 2007. It means that iPhone customers will be able to make free or low-cost global VoIP calls using JAJAH services.

Upbeat Daniel Mattes, cofounder of JAJAH proclaimed,

JAJAH believes people should be able to make long-distance VoIP calls from any handset they want. By adding the iPhone to our list of supported phones, we hope to be able to delight millions of Apple users around the world.

Launched in February this year, the Austria-based JAJAH has emerged as one of the promising VoIP set ups challenging Skype, Vonage and other established VoIP players.

On contrary to Skype or Vonage, JAJAH provides its VoIP services without Internet connection. Now it has nearly 1.2 million subscribers. I except the subscribers base would increase tremendously once it makes its services available for iPhone.
