Here is good news for the business enterprises who use VoIP technology to reduce telephone costs but lose everything in the hacking attack. I said so reading the outcome of the recently concluded Black Hat security confab in Las Vegas this week.

The security researchers at the conference announced the release of 13 new security tools to expose VoIP hacking and ensure smooth functioning of VoIP system.

The security experts from the recognized companies including SecureLogix and Tipping Point (a division of 3Com) have discussed a wide range of topics relating to advance versions of VoIP security threats and suggested countermeasures.

The important outcome was the release of 13 new security tools, designed to expose common defects on insecure VoIP systems. These tools will support penetration testers and corporate sys admin and detect bogus traffic.

The tools released at the Black Hat confab target systems that use SIP (Sessions Initiation Protocol). The most of the current systems from major vendors including Cisco and Nortel are likely to replace proprietary protocols to SIP.
