After NETGEAR, Belkin, SMC, Edge-Core and Sony Mylo, now Panasonic is very soon launching Wi-Fi phones to enable customers to make and receive Skype calls from Wi-Fi Access points in the home, office and elsewhere.
Using Panasonics Wi-Fi phone, customers can enjoy the basic Skype features like SkypeOut, SkypeIn, Skype Voicemail and Call forwarding facilities.
In addition to these services, they can also make and receive calls in free public Wi-Fi access zones that do not need browser validation.
Skype quoted that the phone will be Panasonics first in a series of products the company has planned for VoIP services used by 113 million users worldwide.
However, it is not the first VoIP assignment of Panasonic. The phone maker has already worked with Skypes competitor Vonage Holding Corporation. The much-awaited phone would be marketed in the fourth quarter of the current year.
