There’s a novel idea: combine voice, data, video and mobile in one single touchscreen device that can serve as the home communications center for customers. That’s what OpenFrame IP media phone does. OpenFrame, from OpenPeak Inc., uses the low-power Intel Atom processor and connects via a Wi Fi link.
Users can access everything from a family calendar to email and sports scores with the device. Plus, it’s a phone (sorry, it won’t be making you eggs or doing your laundry though.
“The Intel Atom processor gives us a rapid development environment, critical performance headroom for adding or customizing services, an architecture we can easily transfer to other product models and markets such as enterprise, and — most important from the consumer’s point of view — the best performance we have seen for a processor in its class,” said OpenPeak CTO Paul Krzyzanowski. “It is a core building block of our product family for the foreseeable future.”
