Skype has introduced three new toolbars integrated with Microsoft office.
The company claims that the latest toolbars would carry web, email and desktop applications to support click to dial functionality with the softphone client. Skypers now can make voice, video calls or instant messaging chats from Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer by using these toolbars.
The three toolbars are designed for MS Office, Outlook Express and Thunderbird and the existing toolbars are being updated for IE, Firefox browsers and Microsoft Outlook.
Peter Kalmstrm, Toolbars Product Manager for Skype opines,
Extending Skype functionality into popular computer applications brings simple communication and collaboration to our customers.
Skype claims that its toolbars support all versions of Microsoft Office through Office 2000, Firefox 1.5 and beta 2.0 as well as Internet Explorer 5.5, 6.0 and 7.0 (beta).
With this integration, Skype can give tough challenge to its competitors who rely on the open VoIP protocols such as SIP, IAX and H.323.
