New VoIP Service in Connecticut

Callers in Connecticut have a new option for phone service: AT&T U-verse Voice, AT&T’s brand of VoIP service. The digital voice service launched Monday for Connecticut residents. Customers can now combine all of their communication needs including wireline voice, wireless voice, broadband and television in the company’s IP triple play options.
AT&T U-verse Voice is a little different in terms of managed IP-based service. Instead of being delivered over the internet, it’s delivered over AT&T’s fiber network, which according to the company results in better sound quality and reliability.
“Consumers want their services to work together to keep them connected to their world, and AT&T U-verse Voice is another way we’re helping consumers do that better than anyone else,” said Chad Townes, AT&T vice president and general manager for Connecticut. “Just like U-verse TV has changed the way people watch television, U-verse Voice will change the way people use their home phone.”
But then, how is U-verse VoIP? The voice and wireless voice mail boxes are accessible both online and on traditional phone lines. It also features click-to-call functionality and Locate Me, which allows calls to simultaneously go to up to four wireless or landline phones.
