JAJAH Buttons on eBay - It Was Fun While It Lasted

Reports are coming out that eBay is no longer allowing its members to place JAJAH web buttons in their listings. The buttons made it easy for sellers and buyers to quickly initiate a call to discuss a sale. The news is a little surprising, if only since the addition of buttons took place a mere week ago. From eBay’s standpoint, I can certainly see their hesitation, since it gives sellers and buyers an opportunity to conduct a sale off-site, thereby cutting into eBay’s profits.
Tech News at TechWhack notes, “Incidentally, eBay currently is already providing a similar service which makes use of their Skype technology. However, they are justifying the ban saying it violates the eBay policy related to the inclusion of links in listings. A company spokesperson added that the service requires all interactions between its buyers and sellers to take place on their platform itself. Jajah has advised the users of their buttons to avoid placing them on eBay to avoid any issues. Jajah CEO Trevor Healy said in a statement: “We don’t want to upset eBay, nor do we want our users to get their listings deleted.”
