Is Hosted PBX the Right Solution?

Source: www.voip-news.com

Could Hosted PBX be the right solution to the Hosted VoIP vs. Skype dilemma? Hosted PBX gives businesses the functionality of IP-PBX without having to buy the hardware for a phone system. Village of Schoolcraft, Michigan, recently took this route for their new offices. Rural Communications installed the flexible and low-cost VoIP-based Hosted PBX system that the Village will use for Internet and voice communications.

Village of Schoolcraft Manager Cheri Lutz said that the town was in need of an updated phone system that was both cost effective to setup and maintain.

“I was interested in VoIP, and not having to buy PBX equipment that could be outdated in a couple of years was very appealing to me. I liked the idea of just having the phones and not all the other equipment that traditionally goes along with a phone system,” Lutz said. “Once our CAT-5 cable was installed in the building, it didn’t take much time for them to come and configure the individual phones,” explained Lutz, “and we were up and running.”

The town is using Cisco 7961 IP Phones that are part of Rural Communication’s self-managed, scalable RC Connect Hosted PBX Solution.
“Besides being very easy to get into, customers like being in control of their costs and functionality. Our RC Connect solution eliminates expensive maintenance contracts, allows the customer to make many of their own move, adds and changes to the station and the stations location, and provide a web tool that allows them to manage all their features, so staying connected in a busy environment has never been easier,” said Raymond Bonkowski, IT director for Rural Communications.
