No doubt, VoIP can bring rapid strides in the business communication and productivity. However, it cannot implement or manage itself. What would be the consequences when the business enterprises or companies who go for VoIP without proper knowledge?

Shocking but true, more than half of the companies are still ignorant about the technical aspects of VoIP, even though they are inclined to go with this technology.

They have insufficient knowledge regarding the complexity involved in implementing and supporting VoIP. An UK based SAS Group has reached out at this conclusion in its survey report.

The survey involving more than 200 technology decision makers from different industries shows 62 percent of the companies planning to undertake a VoIP project are not aware of all the components required and 18 percent of companies have no technical knowledge of VoIP at all.

Commenting on the survey, Simon Cranford, CIO of SAS said,

There is a serious and concerning lack of technical knowledge when it comes to implementing IPT which could result in costly mistakes as well as potential downtime for both voice and data systems.

He added,

Companies need to be better prepared for the complexities of IPT. Where once troubleshooting for voice would focus on handsets, cables and PBXs, it now has to incorporate switches, routers, bandwidth and even applications.
