Maryland-based BroadSoft, a provider of VoIP application software to fixed and mobile operators will be an integral part of the Fixed-Mobile Convergence Solution (FMC) development for the enterprises of Faroe Islands as planned by Faroese Telecom, a provider of fixed and mobile services to the islands.
Based on BroadSofts BroadWorks platform, the new service would provide a single phone number to the unlimited users of the islands to contact them on any device empowering the device with Voice applications that were previously available in the costly IP PBX.
Generally, the non-responded calls to deskphones automatically move to voicemail. However, the Fixed Mobile Convergence Solution as designed by Faroese Islands and supported by BroadSoft allows calls to deskphones to ring any or all of 10 existing numbers concurrently, e.g. mobile phone, home phone or other office etc.
This system also facilitates standard 2G mobile phones to function identically to IP extensions enabling services including unified voicemail, call transfer, call forwarding, extension dialing, integrated corporate directory and auto attendant.
