Like India, its neighboring country Bangladesh has also decided to take tough action against the illegal VoIP services of foreign players in the country. We mentioned about it in December 2005 how policies or thereof the lack of it towards VoIP is bleeding the Bangladeshi exchequer.

The telecom authority of that country, Bangladesh Telegraph and Telephone Board (BTTB) considers the prevalence of illegal telephone services of foreigners over Internet Protocol kills revenue of state exchequer.

In a statement, a government official explained BTTB is the sole approved organization in Bangladesh for call termination and call origination. The practice of call termination and call origination by overseas players violates law of the land.

Last month, the government of India has decided to ban illegal VoIP services of unlicensed service providers like Skype, Vonage, Yahoo!, Net2Phone, Dialpad, Impetus, Novanet and Euros.

It seems that European and American VoIP players are still struggling to invade Asian VoIP market despite their attractive offers and sophisticated products.
