8×8, Inc. Gets New VoIP Patent

8×8, Inc. announced that they have been awarded a new patent for “the arrangement and method of Internet telephony,” namely US Patent No. 7,289,491, which was issued today. This latest invention “relates generally to an arrangement which includes a telephone and an interface unit which interfaces the telephone to both a standard switched telephone communications network and an Internet communications network.”
This marks their 70th patent over the last 20 years, their third for this year, covering a wide range of communications and storage technologies.
